Like most boutique self-funded companies we do not have the expertise, time and resources to have a meaningful contribution to the fight against climate change on our own. As we grow, we look to financially support organisations which can help address the climate crisis. A first step towards this is our commitment to donate 1% of Mad Kamel´s turnover to 1% for the Planet® Impact Fund . The organisation offers a unique philanthropic opportunity to drive positive change for our planet and future generations.
About 1% for the Planet
1% for the Planet is a global organization that exists to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. It encourages businesses and individuals to support their environmental partners through membership and everyday actions. Companies that join them, commit to donating 1% of their annual turnover to approved charities.
Today, 1% for the Planet’s global network consists of thousands of businesses, individuals and environmental partners working toward a better future for all.
The associations and organisations that are recipients of the 1% for the Planet network have a formidable capacity to intervene on issues critical to addressing the climate crisis. Thanks to these associations, laws are changed, others are avoided, rivers or species are protected.
100% made in Europe
We were not just born on the old continent, we are proudly 100% produced in Europe. All our materials are produced and assembled in Europe.
Both our lenses and our frames are premium quality. ZEISS, a leader in optics and optoelectronics, supplies our lenses which are 100% made in Italy, while Mazzucchelli and LA/ES supply our acetate (plant-based material) frames.
In our quest to being planet friendly, we faced the challenge of not finding a high-quality supplier of sunglasses packaging which is not made in Asia. We have, therefore, decided to make it ourselves. The cardboard box is from sustainably sourced carton and is coming from Bulgaria. The pouch is made in Spain, while the fabric, famous for its softness, is coming from France and is made of 50% organic cotton (certified by Standard-100 OEKE-TEX) and 50% recycled yarn from plastic bottles. The soft case drawstring is produced in Germany, the Mad Kamel logo is also embroidered in Spain, and they are both made from 100% recycled yarn.
