Hi, I’m François, the creator of Mad Kamel sunglasses. And if you’re reading this, it’s because you too have been looking for original, colourful and offbeat sunglasses.
As I write these lines, I am sitting on a bench watching the sharp, still slightly snowy peaks of the mountains surrounding Chamonix in France. These peaks that have covered my skis with powder many times over the years and given me so much joy. It’s only been a few days since I came back from Tarifa, a windy and sunny town in the south of Andalusia, where the flying sand and the waves remind me every day how much I love being in the water, surfing and kitesurfing.
And it is this love for outdoor experiences that gave life to Mad Kamel. I know that most of us, nature and sports lovers, share one thing in common: we express ourselves through our outdoor activities and discoveries. We are looking for high quality equipment, equipment that is a bit offbeat, with a touch of originality because that’s LIFE! And we want to enjoy it to the fullest while respecting our environment. Mad Kamel is the expression of this will! Its aim is to allow you to enjoy the sun’s rays on a windy day at the beach, on the ski slopes or simply on a deckchair for a well-deserved rest.
Engineer by training, I had the chance to start my professional life by working in an eyewear factory in Indonesia in 2009. I started sketching, researching and finding the right amount of quirky, fun and unconventional design while looking to maximize the use of more environmentally friendly materials.
I spent years thinking about the perfect pair of sunglasses while working in Russia, the United States, Algeria, Spain and many other countries. I took a break from traveling for work, took a deep breath, did a lot of work… and now I’m very excited to share this adventure with you!
