The materials

Our resources are not inexhaustible and the materials we use must reflect this. Some of them have been used for a long time in the eyewear industry, while others use innovative and environmentally friendly technologies. In this sense, Mad Kamel strives to reduce its impact on the environment as much as possible; from the materials used to the distribution through its production site.

Frames: Cellulose acetate

Composed of more than 80% vegetable fibers (cotton or wood pulp), cellulose acetate is a natural polymer manufactured in sheets. More robust, comfortable, biodegradable and hypoallergenic than traditional plastics, it allows the creation of infinite palettes and mixtures of colors impossible to obtain with other processes. Its artisanal shaping by cutting, welding and polishing allows an exceptional finish and a unique stamp. At MKM we use cellulose acetate from the world’s leading supplier Mazzucchelli, known for the quality of its products. It is one of the few manufacturers still producing in Italy.

Lenses: Nylon

They are materials of very high technology. They have an excellent resistance to breakage as well as a very high optical quality and are produced on a sustainable way. They are very light products which allow an easy use on many types of frames. The lenses are produced by Carl Zeiss Vision.

Case : recycled and organic

Designed to protect your glasses, our cases are made in Europe from recycled materials. The outer fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles combined with organic cotton grown without insecticides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers or GMOs (OEKO-TEX Standard 100). The yarn used for the sewing, embroidery and closure rope are made of 100% recycled yarn.
